What is fencing?
Fencing is a traditional combat sport that has evolved from 16th century duelling. It has been in the modern Olympics since the beginning 1896, and has gained a worldwide popularity in all three weapons – foil, epee and sabre. It is a fun and challenging way to get in shape – both physically and mentally. This is the reason why sometimes it is called “physical chess”.
About us
The fencing club Kalpaveljet was established in 1956. With us you can fence mostly epee, but also foil and sabre and train with our three coaches and over 100 fencers. You can train just for fun, or competitively - nationally and internationally.
The club organizes courses and sparrings almost every day of the week and for every age group - from children to veterans (+50 years). We train in our fencing hall in Nääshalli, in the centre of Tampere, and once a week in Hämeenkyrö.
